Western Michigan’s schedule is undoubtedly difficult to start the 2024 season.
The Broncos began the year with a trip to Wisconsin, which ended with a 28-14 loss for WMU. Now they have to travel once again to face No. 2-ranked Ohio State.
WMU proved how great its defense can be against Wisconsin a week ago. If the Broncos want to show that they should be regarded as one of the best teams in the Group of Five in 2024, they might want to put together another solid performance – win or lose.

I predict Ohio State will win but Western Michigan will cover the spread at +38.5. I also project the game will go Under 54.5 total points.
I was wildly impressed with WMU’s defense in the Wisconsin game last week. The Broncos were especially strong up front in critical moments of that contest.
I also think Jalen Buckley is a great running back for WMU. His rushing prowess should help the Broncos maintain a bit of offensive consistency, as should the play of quarterback Hayden Wolff.
Will that be enough to beat Ohio State? I don’t think so. The Buckeyes are coming off a 52-6 win over another MAC team, Akron, and I don’t think there’s any reason to believe they won’t be 2-0 to start the year.
But could WMU play just well enough to keep this interesting going into the second half? I absolutely believe so.
