College Football Team With Best All-Time Winning Percentage in Each State Regardless of Level

Only 18 FBS programs has the highest winning percentage in their own state

College Football Team With Best All-Time Winning Percentage in Each State Regardless of Level

There are 35 college football programs in the state of Texas who’ve played at least 200 games. Mary Hardin-Baylor, a Division-III school in the small town of Belton, has the highest winning percentage among all of them. The Crusaders, the 2016 national champions and two-time national runner-ups, have won 196 of their 234 games, or 83.8 percent of their games.

Listen to “Utah OC Troy Taylor, Predictions from Connor O’Gara of Saturday Down South” on Spreaker.

Texas, just 60 miles south of Belton on I-35, has 10 times the enrollment and 700 more wins than Mary Hardin-Baylor but the Crusaders have a better all-time winning percentage.

Courtesy of Reviews.org, we have a list of every college football program’s all-time record and winning percentage (through 2016), sorted by state. Teams who’ve played fewer than 200 games were not included. Of the 41 states with at least one FBS program, only 18 have an FBS program as their all-time leader in winning percentage.

While it’s not as extensive as our breakdown last year, it’s still interesting data.

Here’s a map of the programs with the highest winning percentage in each state, along with a full list of teams :
