Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall-2021 spring season.
The 99-0 countdown central page can be found here.

67: Cordell Volson, OL (Sr.) — North Dakota State
The 2020 fall NDSU football team was loaded with NFL talent. The full squad only got one game together last year as the Bison played Central Arkansas in the fall and then played in the spring.
Quarterback Trey Lance and left tackle Dillon Radunz opted out of the spring season to begin training for the draft. The two were selected No. 3 and No. 53 overall.
Right tackle Cordell Volson was another 2021 NFL Draft prospect. He elected to play in the spring, then decided to return for one more season in the fall of 2021 before the March 1 deadline to declare for the draft.
A 2019 HERO Sports Second Team All-American after starting all 16 games at RT, Volson started at LT, RT, and RG in the spring as the Bison battled injuries up front and tried to find the best starting unit available. The 6-foot-7, 310-pounder was named the best offensive lineman in the subdivision by the FCS Athletic Directors Association and he also earned All-American honors from HERO Sports, Stats Perform, Athlon Sports, and Phil Steele.
Volson’s older brother Tanner was an All-American center for NDSU from 2014-18 and signed as an undrafted free agent with the LA Chargers. Cordell looks to be the next Bison to hear his name called in the draft after two of his teammates did it this year.
