Fresno State has been one of the more dominant teams in the Group of Five in the last decade. Behind head coaches Jeff Tedford and Kalen DeBoer, the Bulldogs finished with double-digit wins four times since 2017.
They barely hit last year’s win total, going Over 8 wins and finishing 9-4. This year, college football betting odds have the Bulldogs’ Over/Under at 7.5 with the Over at -155 and the Under at +130.
Tedford stepped down last month due to health reasons. It is the third time in his career he has been forced to do that. Tim Skipper is the interim coach and is looking to guide an experienced group to Fresno State’s fifth Mountain West title. It’ll be interesting to see how the Bulldogs respond to the coaching change.

How Many Games Will Fresno State Win In 2024?
The Bulldogs open the season against the reigning national champs, and I don’t see a win there. But I think there’s a great chance they can win their other three non-conference games. Those start in Week 2 against Sacramento State and Week 3 against New Mexico State. Both games are at home.
Fresno State will have to wait until its final game of the season for its next non-con game (not including Washington State). In Week 14, the Bulldogs will visit UCLA. Believe it or not, Fresno State has won its last four meetings against the Bruins and I think they’ll win again here. UCLA will be beat up from its jump to the Big Ten and its extremely difficult schedule. The Bulldogs will still be looking to finish the season strong and should be playing for Tedford.
I also anticipate the Bulldogs handling business against New Mexico in Week 4 and picking up wins against Nevada, San Jose State, and Hawaii. If all of this plays out, then Fresno State will only need to win one of its other four games to go Over 7.5 wins.
The Bulldogs visit UNLV and Air Force, and host Washington State and Colorado State. I predict Fresno State to win two of these games — one on the road and one at home.
How Many Games Will Fresno State Lose In 2024?
Week 1 will be a tall task for Fresno State, and I don’t expect the Bulldogs to go to the Big House and pull off an upset against Michigan. It will, however, be a great wake up call that the season has arrived.
Like I mentioned above, I think the Bulldogs will lose two of their four toss-up games. The way it looks right now, I’m going to say they fall to Air Force and to Washington State. Fresno State hasn’t had the greatest success against these two programs in the past, and they both should be improved compared to last season.
Surprisingly, it will be the first time the Bulldogs face Air Force since 2019, meaning it will be the first time most of these defenders will go up against AF’s difficult offense.
Fresno State Football Bet Prediction
With where the number is right now, I predict Fresno State to go Over 7.5 wins and get to eight victories.
The price isn’t the greatest, though, and betting the Over at -155 seems steep. If the number moves to Over/Under 8 wins and has better odds, then that would be the best option to take. At least if the Bulldogs win eight games, it will be a push.
I wouldn’t bet on Fresno State to go Over 8.5 wins if that becomes the option.
