39: Jack Cochrane, LB (Sr.) — South Dakota
USD has two terrific linebackers in Cochrane and Brock Mogensen, who was recognized as the best No. 49.
Cochrane is a three-year starter and two-time captain for USD. His breakthrough season came in 2018 when he finished third on the team with 79 tackles as a sophomore.
His development continued into 2019, leading the Missouri Valley Football Conference with 106 tackles. Cochrane was named to the All-MVFC Second Team as he added seven tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
The Coyotes played only four games in the spring of 2021. Cochrane totaled 28 tackles and earned All-Conference honorable mention honors.
Cochrane has great size at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds. His career numbers include 224 tackles, 13 TFLs, three sacks, two interceptions, six passes defended, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. In a conference filled with great linebackers, Cochrane looks to show he’s among the very best with another productive season.
Draft Scout currently ranks Cochrane the No. 30 inside linebacker for the 2022 NFL Draft with a high priority free agent grade.
