Anthony Wilson, a former all-Sun Belt defensive back for Georgia Southern, is entering the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday on Twitter.
Wilson was listed as a redshirt senior on Georgia Southern’s 2023 roster.
“Thank you to every teammate I’ve had the honor of grinding with and suiting up with each week,” Wilson wrote. “To every coach, support staff, and faculty member, I appreciate you, helping guide me and pour into me along this journey. The memories, bonds, and brothers I have made here will last forever and I couldn’t be more thankful!”
Wilson earned All-Sun Belt honorable mention accolades in 2022. Through 13 starts, he was sixth in the conference with 101 tackles. He also added five pass breakups, an interception, three tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
Wilson was an All-Sun Belt third-team selection the season before. He started all 12 games and totaled 78 tackles and nine pass breakups, both team highs, to go with 4.5 TFLs, a sack, and a forced fumble.
He also made the all-conference honorable mention list in 2020. That season, he recorded 67 tackles, seven pass breakups, 2.5 TFLs, and an interception.
Considering his resume, Wilson may find himself on a Power Five roster by the beginning of next season.
