Michael Jefferson, a former wide receiver at Louisiana and a standout Group of Five NFL Draft prospect, is expected to miss the 2023 football season after allegedly being hit by a drunk driver nearly two weeks ago, according to multiple reports.
Jefferson was released from the hospital on Wednesday but is expected to continue undergoing rehabilitation. According to ESPN, he will likely not play this upcoming season, but doctors said he should be ready by 2024.
Jefferson was viewed by many as a mid-round NFL Draft prospect. At Louisiana, he totaled 1,291 yards and 11 touchdowns on 69 receptions the past two seasons. In 2022, he caught 51 passes for 810 yards and seven touchdowns.
