Arizona starts the 2024 college football season ranked 21st in the Associated Press Top 25. In fact, some believe the Wildcats have a chance of making the College Football Playoff.
They’ll have an opportunity to start the season on a high note at home when they take on New Mexico, which was one of the few FBS teams that played in Week 0. The Lobos lost in a close battle last week to Montana State, one of the top teams in the FCS, on a last-second touchdown.

New Mexico vs. Arizona Prediction
I predict Arizona will win and cover the spread at -31.5. I also project the game will go Over 58.5 total points.
Yes, I know I have Arizona winning by quite a bit. But I think New Mexico proved to be better than last year now that Bronco Mendenhall is the Lobos’ head coach. Montana State is not a bad team no matter what division it’s in, and New Mexico might have a solid offense with Devon Dampier at quarterback.
Still, this Arizona team appears to be a top-tier program in the Big 12. I think the Wildcats score plenty early on en route to a victory.
