Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall-2021 spring season.
The 99-0 countdown central page can be found here.
Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2020 fall-2021 spring rosters
82: LeCharles Pringle, WR (Sr.) — Alcorn State
Alcorn State is ready to show it’s still the top dog in the SWAC after winning the title in 2018 and 2019, but then opting out of the spring season. Alabama A&M rose to the top and won the 2021 spring championship.
While tracking who is back and who is not on teams that haven’t played since 2019 can be tough, it appears Alcorn State has plenty of its top weapons returning on offense after scoring 34.7 points per game.
Pringle is an elite target coming off of a breakout 2019 season.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder caught 48 passes for 828 yards and 14 TDs. He also returned eight punts for 112 yards. The 14 receiving TDs ranked fourth in the FCS, led the SWAC, and tied a single-season program record.
With 145 yards and a touchdown, Pringle was named the 2019 SWAC Championship Game Offensive MVP.
Pringle was straight-up unstoppable some weeks, catching three TDs in two separate games versus Mississippi Valley State and Alabama A&M.
He will be one of the top receivers in the SWAC this year, along with Alabama A&M’s Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim, who made the countdown at No. 85.
