Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall-2021 spring season.

69: J’Von Brown, OL (Sr.) — Central Connecticut State
Patience has been a key word for FCS players over the last year with canceled or postponed seasons. It’s especially the case for Brown.
Brown had a fabulous start to his college career as his pro potential buzz started to grow. In 2017, he earned All-NEC First Team honors and was named a HERO Sports Sophomore All-American. Brown was an All-Conference selection again in 2018 along with being named a Second Team All-American by Stats Perform.
A preseason All-American heading into his senior year in 2019, Brown played in only four games due to injury. He was able to take a redshirt and returned for a fifth season in 2020, where he once again was named a preseason All-American (Stats Perform Third Team, HERO Sports Second Team). But due to COVID, the 2020 fall season was pushed to the spring of 2021 and CCSU decided to opt out.
Brown plans to be back for a sixth season this fall. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound powerful blocker looks to play a full season for the first time in three years to show he still has the skill set to play at the next level.
