89: Garett Maag, WR (Sr.) — North Dakota
Maag has been making plays for UND since his true freshman season in 2018. In three years and 29 games played, the 6-foot-4 receiver has caught 102 passes for 1,404 yards and 12 touchdowns.
In his debut season, Maag finished second on the team with 266 yards and five touchdowns while ranking third with 18 catches.
He took on a bigger role with the offense in 2019, catching 59 passes for 610 yards and five touchdowns.
With the emergence of All-American running back Otis Weah, the Fighting Hawks threw the ball 203 times in seven games this spring compared to 470 attempts in 12 games in 2019. This impacted Maag’s production, but he still put up solid numbers with limited targets and was viewed as one of the better wide receivers in the MVFC.
Maag hauled in 25 receptions for 523 yards and two touchdowns. He earned All-MVFC honorable mention honors.
His ability to stretch a defense with his downfield presence was the perfect complement to UND’s No. 17-ranked rushing offense. Maag’s 20.9 yards per catch was the 10th best in the FCS in 2020-21.
