For the first time in program history, Tulane reached double-digit wins in consecutive seasons. The Green Wave finished 11-3 last season and went 12-2 in 2022.
That success earned coach Willie Fritz a Power Four opportunity where he joined Houston — a former AAC foe — following the 2023 campaign. Still, Tulane is expected to remain a contender in the American with the addition of former Troy coach Jon Sumrall.
College football betting odds currently have Tulane’s Over/Under for regular season wins at 7.5, with the Over at -135 and the Under at +110.
I don’t anticipate the Green Wave to get to double-digit wins again, but can they eclipse seven victories?
How Many Games Will Tulane Win In 2024?
There’s no doubt Tulane’s non-conference slate was much easier last season. They went 3-1 in non-conference play, losing only to Ole Miss. In their three wins, the Green Wave outscored their opponents 94-27. This year’s first five weeks will be more difficult.
There are seven games I am confident Tulane will win in 2024. The first comes in Week 1 against Southeastern Louisiana and the next doesn’t come until Week 6 at UAB. From that point, I like Tulane to win its next five games against Rice, North Texas, Charlotte, Temple, and Navy.
The Green Wave will certainly be tested early, but the back half of the season will be much easier.
How Many Games Will Tulane Lose In 2024?
This year, the non-conference slate features matchups with Kansas State and Oklahoma. Although the Green Wave defeated Kansas State in 2022 on the road, I don’t think they’ll pick up another win here, even though it’s at home. I also don’t think they’ll pull off the upset at Oklahoma.
That leads to another tough game at Louisiana before opening up league play at home versus USF. It’ll be a battle between two solid defenses against the Ragin’ Cajuns, and Tulane will need another great defensive game against the Bulls the following week. I think the Green Wave split these games. If that’s the case, then that puts them at only two wins entering a Week 6 bye, but they should be plenty motivated after the break.
Tulane gets another bye week prior to what might be its most important game of the season. Following the Green Wave’s Week 13 bye, they will host Memphis — which will also be coming off a bye. Not only could this meeting have major AAC championship game implications, but I think it could also dictate whether the Green Wave go Over 7.5 regular season wins.
This game is four months away, but the way it looks now is that Memphis will be favored. Of course, that doesn’t mean the Tigers will win, and I’m not going to count out Tulane. Last time the Green Wave hosted Memphis at home in a season finale was in 2020, where they won 35-21.

Tulane Football Bet Prediction
It’s not going to be easy, but I believe the Green Wave will go Over 7.5 wins in 2024. I think it will be key that they don’t play UTSA.
If they win those seven games mentioned they should win, that means they’ll only need to win one of those three toss-up games. I’m confident they’ll be able to do that.
And who knows — maybe they even pull another upset over Kansas State.
