86: Todd Summers, TE (Sr.) — Villanova
Summers had big expectations heading into the 2020 season after a breakout year. In 2019, he caught 34 passes for 364 yards and six touchdowns.
But when the fall season got postponed to the spring, Summers decided to enter the transfer portal near the end of the summer and look at other options academically and athletically. He chose to continue his football career at Duquesne and enter the university’s master of business administration program.
Summers was named a 2020 Stats Perform preseason All-American for Duquesne.
However, in January, Summers announced he would be going back to Villanova to finish his college career. Villanova was able to offer him a scholarship for its master of business administration program.
The Wildcats played this spring but only got four games in as COVID-related cancellations piled up. Summers caught just three passes for 42 yards.
With All-American quarterback Daniel Smith returning and a normal football season coming, expect Summers to put up numbers similar to his 2019 breakout season than the odd spring season. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder will be a big target in what should be an explosive offense.
