94: Jevon Leon, DL (Jr.) — Sam Houston
Like Joseph Wallace, the addition of Leon was massive for the SHSU defensive line improvements in 2019.
The three-star recruit with 12 D1 offers lived up to the hype as a true freshman. Earning HERO Sports Freshman All-American and All-Southland Conference Third Team honors, Leon finished with 38 total tackles and led all FCS freshmen with 16 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.
This spring, the 6-foot-3 and 255-pounder was named a HERO Sports Sophomore All-American while elevating himself to First Team All-Conference status. Leon totaled 22 tackles, six TFLs, four sacks, three fumble recoveries, and three quarterback hurries.
Leon was a part of the best defensive line in the FCS this spring as the defense allowed just 94.9 rushing yards per game and 2.64 yards a rush en route to a national championship. He had at least .5 tackles for loss in three of the four playoff wins.
