Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall/2021 spring season.

98: Kobie Turner, DL (Sr.) — Richmond
It took some time for Turner to make an impact for the Spiders. But when he did, the 6-foot-3 and 285-pounder splashed onto the scene.
Turner redshirted in 2017 before appearing in 11 games in 2018, totaling 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. As a first-year starter in 2019, Turner finished fourth on the team in tackles as an interior defensive lineman, racking up 71 along with seven sacks, seven quarterback hurries, and 14.5 TFLs. In a game against James Madison filled with defensive stars, Turner was the most dominant with 12 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks.
He earned Third Team All-CAA and HERO Sports Sophomore All-American honors for his breakout season.
Named a team captain for the 2021 spring season, Turner tallied 19 tackles, six TFLs, and 3.5 sacks in four games. Stats Perform and the Associated Press named him a Second Team All-American while he was also recognized as the CAA’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
He’s made a name for himself nationally in the FCS, but also for what he can do off the field. Nicknamed The Conductor, Turner is equally talented musically as he is a football player.
