Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall-2021 spring season.

84: Pierre Williams, WR (Jr.) — Sacramento State
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Williams in action. The last time Sac State played a game was in the FCS quarterfinals on Dec. 7, 2019. The Hornets will have a new quarterback with First Team All-American Kevin Thomson graduated, but Williams is ready to remind us that he’s among the best receivers in the FCS.
Williams earned 2020 preseason Third Team All-American honors from HERO Sports before the season was postponed to the spring. He was coming off a fantastic 2019 year when he caught 54 passes for 931 yards and seven touchdowns while being named to the All-Big Sky First Team.
A two-star recruit in high school, Williams redshirted in 2017 before becoming the top target on the team as a redshirt freshman in 2018. He led Sac State with 31 receptions for 553 yards and five touchdowns.
Williams showcased his talent against two FBS opponents, Arizona State and Fresno State, in 2019. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound California native caught a combined 10 passes for 127 yards.
