NDSU Lands School-Record 65 on Valley Football Honor Roll

Three-time NCAA Division I football national champion North Dakota State closed its best academic year with a school-record 65 student-athletes named to the 2013-14 Missouri Valley Football Conference honor roll announced Tuesday, June 17.

North Dakota State had its highest football team grade-point averages in 10 years of Division I competition.  The Bison averaged a 2.84 GPA in the fall semester, a 2.96 in the spring and 2.90 overall.

The President’s Council Academic Excellence Award goes to student-athletes within 18 hours of gradution who have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (through fall 2013) and have participated in athletics a minimum of two years.  NDSU’s Ryan Drevlow, Andrew Grothmann, Justin Juckem and Danny Luecke were four of the 22 student-athletes who earned the league’s highest academic achievement.  

The Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.2 GPA for the previous two semesters.  To qualify for the honor roll, students had a 3.0 GPA for the fall term, were a member of the football team, and were enrolled for 12 hours during the fall.

North Dakota State’s 65 award winners topped the team’s previous high of 43 during the 2011-12 season.  Here are the NDSU honorees:
